4th of July Treats

In search of a cute treat to make for an upcoming 4th of July party, I’ve come to the realization that you can add strawberries and blueberries to almost any food to make it look festive. I’ve found so many cute treat ideas on the internet that it’s hard to choose just one.

I’ll start with my favorite – and perhaps the easiest to make – treat. Just dip a fresh strawberry in white chocolate and blue sprinkles. I love it!

Next, this idea for a festive fruit platter. Arrange a platter of watermelon, blueberries, and bananas in the shape of an American flag. The only trouble is when people start eating the fruit, your flag is no longer recognizable.

How sweet are these fruit shishkabobs? Alternate strawberries, grapes or cherries with blueberries and marshmallows. You can also sub the marshmallows with bananas.

OK this one is making my mouth water. Homemade cheese pizza with spinach and/or basil and sliced tomatoes. How cute is this?

OK I totally want to make this American Flag Cheesecake. Prepare a regular New York Cheesecake and add strawberries, bananas and blueberries. You can also do this with a white sheet cake.

This layer-cake is a little more involved. You can find the recipe and directions here. It’s almost too pretty to eat!

And lastly, what better way to start off your day then a festive piece of toast?

I’m going out to Hood Canal for the 4th with some family and plan to BBQ, boat, and roast marshmallows while watching fireworks. The weather is supposed to be nice so it should be a great time. I always love leaving the city behind and relaxing by the water! Happy 4th of July to you and your family!
